Our Storypark
What is Jackalope Junction?
Jackalope Junction isn’t your typical town of the Wild West.
Inspired by the stories of Jules Verne combined with those of the Old West, and you have the first ever “StoryPark” ever imagined in the world. And not just a StoryPark, but a Steampunk Western StoryPark, filled with not only the charm of the Old West, but with fantastical machines from robots to vehicles.
Unlike today’s typical theme and amusement parks around the world, Jackalope Junction focuses on one theme — the history of the old mining town of Mighty Oak Springs, once a rich town full of opulence and splendor, only to fall victim to the greed of it’s founders and city council. A town with a rich past as a provider of special crystals from the local mine caves that contained certain properties, and were mined and sold to both sides of the Civil War.
Because of that greed, a great disaster happened that shut down the mines, along with the loss of 13 folks - miners and children alike, plummeting Mighty Oak Springs into a ghost town.
Many years later, it gets discovered by our hero, Jackalope Jim, who meets some of the folks who stayed in the town, cleans it up and restores it, and christens is as Jackalope Junction!
The Storypark
Jackalope Junction is destined to become the first-ever “StoryPark” in the world, as unlike typical theme parks, this is all based on one actual story, and of course, the stories of the characters who inhabit the town.
So, when you visit, you won’t feel like you’ve stepped into an overcrowded amusement or theme park, but instead into an actual little western town, but with a difference - as this isn’t just an old west town, but it’s a Steampunk Western town — Imagine visiting a town that Jules Verne may have built with Wyatt Earp or Wild Bill Hickok. It’s the adventure of the Old West meets the fantasy of Vernian Technology, powered by gems that all have unique properties.
The Experience of a Lifetime!
As a guest of Jackalope Junction, you can visit just as you would any theme park, or you and your family can become part of the story, as your kids (or you!) join the Jackalope Jim Deputy Sheriff School, where you get an official Jackalope Junction Gem Blaster and tin badge, and have to shoot specific targets throughout our town or back country, and at the end of the day, get your picture on the Wall of Fame in our town hall!
Or you can just enjoy the day with great food, fun entertainment for the whole family, visit our unique shops run by local craftspeople, and spend some time at our turn of the century county fair in the back country. If you’re the adventurous type, you may want to go for a test ride on one of Baron VonZümski’s Rocket Planes, discover the mystery of our mine caves during a “guided tour”, explore the mine maze where the 13 miners and some townsfolk disappeared, or take a thrilling ride on the Beaver family’s converted Sawmill/log flume ride.
Stories Everywhere You Go…
Unlike most theme or amusement parks, Jackalope Junction is full of rides and attractions that have been built and are owned by the characters that not only populate our town, but add to the richness and experience of our story.
You can test ride one of Blacksmith Bill’s Electrificated Wagons on a gentle ride of his test trail, while enjoying serene desert, rock and natural stone bridge scenery, all while being serenaded by the friendliest band of Marichi cacti!
And for those who just want to go for a leisurely ride around the town and back country, there are two trains we’ve restored that were originally used for the old mining operation.
There’s really so much to see and do, including our own Indian Village run by Chief Red Tale, where you can watch demonstrations of tribal dances, or see the sky come to life in our Magic Sky Theatre.
One of our mining trains that’s been all cleaned up!
And at Night…
At the end of the night, stay for our campfire sing-along where the trees come to life with a little bit of country magic! And if you want to stay after closing, why not experience sleeping under the stars in one of our teepees or covered wagons, part of our Nighttime Camping Experience - where a family of four (or so), gets dinner, campfire stories with S’more pie, and in the morning, a real Chuckwagon breakfast! And after, families get to stay at Jackalope Junction the rest of the day!
Every day at Jackalope Junction won’t be the same as it was the day before, just like any little town you may know. Oh sure, there will be the same people telling some of the same old stories, but you never know when something unexpected just might happen…
